According to the technical requirements, background research and previous experience, new design starts on the paper, and continues in a CAD program when it reaches a sufficient detail level.

Necessary simulations are performed with CAE software using finite elements method. The results are interpreted with analytical hand calculations and engineering intuition, then analysis results are summarized in a report.

If desired, technical drawings are generated and presented for customer approval. Manufacturing process starts after the technical drawings are approved.

Loads create stress and deflection on the structure. Static simulation calculates the stress distribution and deflection values, and compare the safety factor against yield to ensure there is no plastic deformation under operating conditions. Structural optimization can also be performed with this tool.

– Buckling

Buckling is the most dangerous form of failure for static structures, which develops only under compressive loads and results in instant collapse of the structure. Long beams, shells and any slender section that has small thickness/length ratio must be analyzed for buckling. Resistance to buckling is a function of stiffness, it is only related to the elastic modulus of the material, independent from its yield strength.

Buckling simulation module is used to generate mode shapes and their corresponding safety factors under the applied loads. In case the results indicate low safety factors, structure is modified using stiffeners. Safety factor is always kept high to guarantee safe operation of the equipment.

– Frequency




Mechanical structures and machines have natural frequency modes that are related to their geometry, material and boundary conditions. Loads on the system continuously interact with the whole structure. Resonance will occur when the frequency of the loads are close to one of the natural frequencies of the system, which may result in high amplitude vibrations and oscillations.

Frequency simulation module is used to calculate the mode shapes and their natural frequencies, and check whether the loads will create resonance in the structure. If resonance is present, the geometry and/or fixtures of the design will be modified to move the natural frequencies of the structure away from the operating load frequencies. This way, smooth operation is ensured.
